Suizidale Entwicklungen im Kindes- und Jugendalter müssen immer vor dem Hintergrund der Entwicklungskrise verstanden werden. In der destruktiven Entwicklung kann sich ein zugespitzter Entwicklungskonflikt ausdrücken, der möglicherweise verbunden ist mit einer verborgenen pathologischen Dynamik im Familiensystem. Sie kann Ausdruck einer früh geschädigten Persönlichkeitsstruktur sein, bei der die Anpassungsprozesse im Rahmen der Entwicklung nicht mehr gelingen. Im Jugendalter ist die destruktive Entwicklung immer vor dem Hintergrund der phasenspezifischen Pubertäts- und Adoleszenzkrise zu verstehen. Dieses Verständnis bildet die Basis, um die suizidale Dynamik des Einzelnen, aber auch des Familiensystems verständlich werden zu lassen. Zur Einschätzung der suizidalen Gefährdung muss die Konfliktebene, die Strukturebene und die Beziehungsebene erfasst werden.
