Analysis of human ES cells

A research group led by Akihiro Umezawa, director of the National Center for Child Health and Development (Location: Okura, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Igarashi) has established a new cell line of human ES cells. This cell line (SEES-X: SEES Ten) is the first human ES cell line established by the Center after the enforcement of the Law on Regenerative Medicine in 2014. The ES cells are the result of our expertise in the development of regenerative medicine, and they are unique in that they can be used not only for regenerative medicine, gene therapy, and cell therapy, but also for industrial applications, such as drug development. In addition, human ES cells are provided "free of charge" to research institutions and companies that wish to use them. SEES-X is therefore expected to contribute to the development of human life science and the bio-health industry, and to be used as a platform for all modalities.
