Vogesella sp. EB was isolated from a neutral iron-oxidizing ecosystem at the surface of water in aquifers of Andean Patagonia, Argentina. This strain possesses the ability to oxidize iron coupled to nitrate reduction, and to produce and secrete the blue pigment indigoidine with bioactive properties.
