“Bathing & boating on the Mara River 4 m. from Chogoria.” Landscape view showing boys playing in a river. Chogoria is situated at 5000 ft. on the slopes of Mount Kenya about 35 miles from the summit; a belt of forest encircles the mountain starting a few miles above the station. ❧ The image is from the collection of Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) showing the period from 1947-1961 at the Chogoria mission which was established near Mt Kenya, in 1922, and run by Dr Irvine.
