2024年 世界の国別ビリオネア数ランキング

2024年時点でビリオネアの数が最も多かった国は、中国（814人）でした。さらにインド、英国、ドイツが続く結果となっています。 
1位の座を奪われた米国 
消費資本主義のゆりかごであり、旗振り役となってきた米国が、長きにわたってビリオネア数ランキングの上位を独占してきたことは、驚くべきことではありません。しかし、米国は近年首位の座を中国に奪われています。中国のビリオネアの数は、経済の自由化や長期にわたる高成長率も手伝い、大幅に増加しました。しかし、5千万米ドル以上の資産を保有する超富裕層（UHNWIs、Ultra-high-net-worth individuals）の数では、北米地域が依然として首位を維持しています。特に欧米諸国が目立つのは、こうした国々の高度に成熟した経済の現れといえます。とはいえ、中国やその他の新興経済国が、欧米諸国に取って代わる日もそう遠くないかもしれません。 
女性のビリオネア 
女性のビリオネアの割合は低く、皮肉にも「世界経済は主に男性のエリート階級によって牛耳られている」という批判を裏付ける形となっています。世界長者番付の上位20人のうち、女性はわずか1人でした。また、近年活発化しつつある富の分配に関する議論を発端として、超富裕層が所有する資産について関心が高まっており、世界的にみても富の分配は極めて不均衡であることがわかっています。 

In 2024, China, with 814 billionaires, was the country with the highest number of billionaires. India, the United Kingdom, and Germany followed in this order. The United States, which has long been the flagbearer of consumer capitalism, was not surprising in having dominated the top ranks of the billionaires' list for an extended period. However, recently, the United States has lost its top position to China. The number of Chinese billionaires has significantly increased due to the liberalization of the economy and sustained high growth rates. Nonetheless, North America still retains the top position in terms of the number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) with assets exceeding 50 million USD. Notably, Western countries, particularly, stand out as a reflection of their highly matured economies. Nevertheless, it may not be long before emerging economies like China replace Western countries in this regard. Furthermore, the proportion of female billionaires is low, which ironically validates the criticism that 'the global economy is predominantly dominated by the male elite class.' Among the top 20 in the world's richest list, there was only one woman. Moreover, the recent heightened discussions on wealth distribution have sparked interest in the assets owned by the ultra-wealthy, revealing a highly uneven distribution of wealth on a global scale.
