Isolation and molecular characterization of Myrothecium roridum causing brown leaf spot of Mulberry (Morus spp.)

The pathogen responsible for brown leaf spot of Mulberry (Morus spp.) was isolated in pure culture and its pathogenicity was ascertained by following Koch's postulates. Total genomic DNA was isolated and ITS region was amplified using universal primers. Phylogenetic affliation of the strain was studied which revealed that the strain belonged to the genus Myrothecium.
