Long-Term Trends and Patterns in Air Quality in Portugal: Datasets and Processing Pipeline

This dataset was developed in the context of the MSc thesis "Tendências e Padrões de Longo Prazo na Qualidade do Ar em Portugal", conducted at NOVA School of Science and Technology.

It contains processed datasets and data preparation workflows for the analysis of long-term air quality trends in Portugal, integrating air quality measurements, meteorological data, dust event records, and geographic information.

The repository includes:- Cleaned and consolidated air quality datasets- Processed meteorological data and station mappings- Dust event records by region and time- Geographic data defining Portuguese regions- Python notebooks used for data processing and transformation

The data was collected from multiple public and institutional sources and harmonized into analysis-ready formats. The processing pipeline includes data cleaning, transformation, filtering based on data quality criteria, and computation of air quality indicators and regulatory exceedances.

Some datasets originate from third-party sources (e.g., IPMA, QualAr, NOVA SST, AMA) and may be subject to their own attribution requirements. Please refer to the CITATION section in the repository for full details.
