资源简介:
This collection comprises geophysical data (raw magnetometer data, processed magnetometer data, raster plots, CAD figures and scanned grid sheets) from approximately 55.5 ha of magnetometer survey conducted in advance of the proposed Scotland to England Green Link 1 (SEGL1) electricity transmission project. The survey was commissioned by AECOM and undertaken by Archaeological Services Durham University between September and November 2021. The site of the proposed electricity cable route was within County Durham, extending for approximately 10km inland across agricultural fields from the coastline near Seaham to a proposed converter station at Hawthorn Pit. Hand held magnetometer surveys were carried out at 38 locations, with features with archaeological potential identified in 15 of those surveys. Potentially more significant remains were detected at three locations and a series of probable ditches could represent an early field system of small fields or enclosures and possibly associated features.
