Apple production in the Netherlands 2015-20221, by type

In 2022, the total apple production in the Netherlands was estimated to be roughly 236,000 tons, a decrease compared to 2021. The Elstar apple was the most widely produced apple type in the country, with an estimated production of roughly 89,000 metric tons. By comparison, only 7,000 metric tons of Golden Delicious was produced in 2021.  Change in production    Although Elstar was the most produced apple type in the Netherlands in the last four years, the production of another apple types grew faster. In comparison to the previous year, the production of Elstar apples decreased by 13 percent. Some other apple types, such as Rode Boskoop, were yielded in higher volumes than in 2021. The average apple production decreased by 9,000 metric tons between 2021 and 2022.  International apple trade    The Netherlands is both an apple producer and an apple trader. The apple trade is a significant contributor to the import as well as the export of agricultural products to and from the country. In 2021, the import value of apples was 244 million euros. The export value was lower than the import value.
