Pilot project of metagenomic analysis of cattle from Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. Bos taurus

This data is from a training activity in Yogyakarta on October 2019 as part of a JSPS-sponsored MinION training under the GRAID consortium. This a pilot project of that may be continued into a full-fledged project in the future. The organizer had collected blood samples of cattle from Kulon Progo District, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia as part of their routine surveillance. Two of the samples were used in the hands-on training. The participants were involved directly in all aspects of the sample preparation and sequencing, starting from DNA extraction, DNA concentration measurement, library preparation, and sequencing. The purpose of the training was to identify the pathogen in the blood samples using metagenomic sequencing with MinION. Participants also performed analysis of the sequencing data using BLAST and One Codex web services. The whole genome of the pathogen was constructed outside of training.
