Herbivory stress response of DNA methylation in Populas Nigra from Poland and Spain

For studying methylation variation, bisulfite sequencing technologies are extensively used for analyzing effect of environmental stress or understanding a population structure. We investigated the effect of experimental herbivory treatments following a factorial design in clones of Populous nigra italica collected from Spain and Poland. First, six replicates from two ortets obtained from each region were assigned in three herbivory categories (i) insect herbivory, (ii) artificial herbivory, and (iii) undamaged plants.
