VPRS 9934 Applications For Orders-in-Council under Electric Light and Power Act 1896

This series comprises files and volumes containing correspondence and applications to the Electrical Inspector for an Order-in-Council to transfer an electrical undertaking (the rights to supply electricity to a particular municipality) from one electricity supply company to another. Applications for an Order-in-Council to transfer an electrical undertaking (or to extend an area of supply) were required under sections 7 and 10 of the Electric Light and Power Act 1896 (No.1413) and subsequent legislation.Upon receiving an application for an Order-in-Council from an electricity supply company, the Electrical Inspector made a recommendation to the Minister of the relevant department that the Order-in-Council be granted. The Minister would in turn (apparently) present the application to the Governor-in-Council for approval and authorisation.
