资源简介:
Metals like niobium, tantalum, and iron are essential for renewable energy, electronics, and modern infrastructure. Yet we still know little about how these elements move through Earth’s crust to form mineable deposits. This study recreated deep-Earth conditions in the laboratory and used synchrotron X-rays to observe how hot, salty fluids dissolve and transport metals. The results overturn long-held ideas: chlorine could carry niobium, while tantalum fully depends on fluorine. Iron also behaves differently than expected, remaining stable in solution under extreme conditions. These insights help explain giant ore deposits and guide the search for future resources.
