Dataset: Total mercury in muscle tissue of blue shark (Prionace glauca) from the artisanal port of Ilo, southern Peru — baseline data and health risk assessment

This dataset accompanies the manuscript "Baseline mercury concentrations and health risk assessment in blue shark (Prionace glauca) from Ilo, southern Peru", submitted to Marine Pollution Bulletin. It contains total mercury (THg) concentrations in dorsal white muscle tissue of 12 blue sharks (Prionace glauca; 6 males, 6 females; total length 167–230 cm) landed at the Artisanal Fishing Port (DPA) of Ilo, Moquegua Region, southern Peru, on 12 October 2021. THg was quantified by cold-vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CV-AAS) following NOM-117-SSA1-1994 at CERPER S.A. (ICP-AA Laboratory, Callao, Peru), an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory (Test Report No. 2-00521/21). The dataset includes individual THg measurements, descriptive statistics, results of all statistical tests, linear regression parameters, health risk assessment (THQ and EWI/PTWI), and an international comparison table.
