THEMATIC FUNCTIONS OF METAPHORS IN ENGLISH AND KARAKALPAK POETRY

Metaphors play a crucial role in shaping themes and conveying meaning in poetry. This paper examines the thematic functions of metaphors in English and Karakalpak poetic traditions. It explores how metaphors contribute to the development of central themes such as love, nature, identity, and struggle. By comparing examples from both literatures, the study demonstrates that while certain metaphorical themes are universal, their expression is deeply influenced by cultural context and linguistic structure. English poetry often emphasizes individual emotion and abstract thought, whereas Karakalpak poetry reflects communal values and a close relationship with nature.
