Planktothrix agardhii from Sandusky Bay, Lake Erie, underwent single filament isolation to generate xenic unialgal cultures. The cultures were maintained in JM media, under 12:12 L:D cycles at 20umol photons m-2 s-1. When the genomes of the cultures were desired, the total community was extracted and sequenced. The goal was to determine if there was a relationship between some bacteria and the Planktothrix isolates.
