VPRS 4465 Outline of a Plan of a Mission to Instruct Aborigines in the Principles of Christianity

This series consists of an "outline of a plan for maintaining the ordinances of religion among the British population in the interior of the Port Phillip District and for instructing the Aborigines in the principles of Christianity", signed by B. Hurst (missionary to the Wesleyan Aboriginal Mission). The plan proposed that two missionaries and a schoolmaster should be appointed to the aboriginal stations at Western Port, The Goulburn, Mount Macedon and The Grampians. Each missionary was to alternately deal with the white and the black populations. It was proposed that the undertaking would be financed by contributions from both the Church and the Government.
