资源简介:
This series comprises registered inward correspondence to the Land Branch, Superintendent of Port Phillip District (VA 476) relating to Aboriginal Reserves and Stations. The main subject of this series is that of boundary disputes between the Government and settlers and between settlers in regards to the land granted for the following Aboriginal Stations: Mt Rouse, Loddon, Goulburn, Buntingdale and Narre Narre Warren. Correspondence regarding encroachments by settlers onto the land of the above stations and the distribution of such land after the abolition of the Protectorate system is also included. Tracings, maps, plans and survey reports regarding the Mt Rouse, Loddon, Goulburn, Buntingdale and Narre Narre Warren stations are also included. The files consist of blue and cream paper folders and single pages. At the top of the front of each letter a prcis of the correspondence, the date of registration and the registration number is written. Each letter is stamped Land Branch in blue. Research Note: In 1852 the separate Land Branch Registry was abolished and correspondence regarding land administration was once again controlled by the General Branch registry, Colonial Secretary's Office (see VPRS 1189 Inward Registered Correspondence I). Further, after 1852 many of the functions of the Lands Branch were taken over by the Surveyor-General's Office (and subsequent agencies) - see VPRS 2896 Registered Inward Correspondence To The Surveyor General Board Of Land And Works And Board Of Land And Survey Relating To Aboriginal Affairs, VPRS 5 Outward Registered Correspondence to Surveyor General and VPRS 44 Inward Registered and Unregistered Correspondence). For correspondence regarding the Moravian Mission Lake Boga Aboriginal Reserve see VPRS 2896 Registered Inward Correspondence To The Surveyor General Board Of Land And Works And Board Of Land And Survey Relating To Aboriginal Affairs, VRPS 4415 Chief Secretary's Registered, Inward Correspondence Relating To Aboriginal Affairs Transferred to The Department Of Crown Lands And Survey and VPRS 4409 Copies Of Correspondence Relating To The Establishment Of The Aboriginal Protectorate.
