BIG001 - Biga - A history of Biga speakers

This dataset contains written notes in Papuan Malay from a conversation with Melianuis Samigita (born 1957), native speaker of Biga, about the history of Biga speakers. The session took place on 28 December 2019, in Biga village (Misool island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). Unfortunately there is no audio recording of this conversation. Note that the handwritten ID code 'BAT001' in the Fieldnotes is incorrect; these Fieldnotes are associated with this item, BIG001. This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a Moray Endowment Fund from the University of Edinburgh.
