Wachsamkeitsbrunnen

3D model of the Wachsamkeitsbrunnen (vigilance fountain) in Vienna's 8th district. The fountain was built in 1779 by Johann Martin Fischer at the expense of the Lower Austrian provincial government. In 1937, the fountain was moved to Schlesingerplatz in front of the district office for the 8th district there. The fountain is crowned by the Goddess of Vigilance. She holds an oil lamp in her right hand and a scroll in her left. To her left is a crane as a symbol of guidance. Above the fountain basins a stone pillar with lion heads as gargoyles.
