Loss of MCJ in macrophages results in increased mitochondrial respiration which leads to the upregulation of TIMP-3, and the inhibition of tumor necrosis factor shedding from the membrane. We therefore use MCJ deficient mice to study the dysbiosis during acute inflammation.
