The genus Abutilon Mill. (Malvaceae) comprises ~178 species with significant ornamental, economic, and medicinal value, distributed across tropical and subtropical regions. Taxonomic discrepancies persist in Abutilon classification. Here, six species were sequenced from herbarium specimens, ten were assembled de novo from public raw data, and two previously reported chloroplast (cp) genomes were incorporated to characterise cp genome structure, identify polymorphic loci, and conduct phylogenetic analysis. Chloroplast genomes ranged from 159,458 to 160,454 bp, exhibiting the typical angiosperm quadripartite structure with high size conservation (
