The man in the center is Edward Mosk, an attorney from Los Angeles who played an active role in organizing the IPP. Reuben Borough, another party activist, stands on the left. IPP was formed on June 15, 1948, when the Progressive Citizens of America, Southern California chapter, merged with the Independent Progressive Party of California. The newly merged party backed Henry Wallace's presidential campaign in 1948.
