Data - Predictors of body appreciation in mothers of children living with asd: the role of physical activity, self-compassion and emotional eating.

Mothers of children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often face emotional overload, which can be associated with changes in eating and negative body image. Body appreciation stands out as an important construct to be studied in this population since greater body appreciation is related to less susceptibility to body dissatisfaction, desire to change one’s appearance, influence of external body ideals, and development of disordered eating. Of the various factors that influence one’s relationship with body image, self-compassion can play a relevant role amidst the challenges of atypical motherhood. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate factors associated with this construct in mothers of children living with ASD.
