ECM constituents or PO were immobilized on plastic surfaces and offered as substrates. Protein concentrations used for coating were 20 µg/ml for BME, FIB and LAM, 40 µg/ml for THR and 50 µg/ml for PO. On a total area of 500 µm2 the subarea covered with adherent cells was estimated. Values are given semiquantitatively: "−" less then 10, "+" 11–30, "++" 31–60; "+++," 61–80 and "++++" 80–100% of the total area were covered with adherent cells.
