The data were collected in 2019-2022 in Rocky Mountain National Park treeline communities. The methods of collection are described in the manuscript titled "Different ecological functions in stress-tolerant five-needle white pines may shape treeline response to climate change", currently under review at Ecosphere. Laurel A. Sindewald and Diana F. Tomback conceived the ideas, acquired funding, and designed methodology; L.A.S. collected, curated, and analyzed the data; L.A.S and D.F.T wrote the manuscript, with L.A.S. as the lead. Both authors contributed critically to the drafts and gave final approval for publication. Research in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) was conducted under permit numbers ROMO-2018-SCI-0022, ROMO-2019-SCI-0030, ROMO-2020-SCI-0022, and ROMO-2022-SCI-0018. RMNP provided logistical support and research dorm housing for this study.
