Road tolls contestation in public debate in Bergen, Kristiansand and Trondheim from 2000 to 2020.

The dataset consists of three files, with the primary file being the Media Analysis Excel sheet coding the titles of newspaper articles included in the study. These articles were sourced from three regional Norwegian newspapers: Bergens Tidende (Bergen), Fædrelandsvennen (Kristiansand), and Adresseavisen (Trondheim). The dataset spans three specific years—2006, 2013, and 2019—which were selected based on their high volume of articles referencing road tolls during the broader search period of 2000–2022. These targeted years provide a rich basis for analyzing public debates on road tolls across distinct regional and temporal contexts. The second file includes the codebook developed and used for the analysis. The third file includes a description of codes and futher information about how codes were groupped into categories during the analysis.
