Starburst-Driven Outflows and the Evolution of Dwarf Galaxies

Dwarf galaxies are ideal systems for studying the effects on galaxy evolutionof the feedback of energy and mass into the ISM from starformation. Xraydata are vital to study this process, as they probe the hot gasthat contains the bulk of the energy and metals that may escapethe galaxy in starburstdriven outflows. We propose observationsthat will create a sample of the five brightest starbursting dwarfgalaxies. The proposal team will also obtain FUSE farUV spectra ofcooler coronal phase gas (1e5 < T(K) < 1e6) in this sample.
