Investigating the effect of Empagliflozin on the weight of prediabetes and diabetic patients: A Quasi-experimental study

This study was conducted as a quasi-experimental intervention on 43 patients with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes aged 18 to 65 who were referred to one of the affiliated clinics of Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2022 and 2023. Patients with diabetes with an HbA1c level of up to 0.5% higher than the treatment target, provided that they were not using other blood glucose-lowering medications, were enrolled in the study. All these patients received 10 milligrams of empagliflozin once daily for three months, and weight , body mass index, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure were evaluated monthly and at the end of the third month.
