Diatom 18S Amplicon Sequencing from California Current System Upwelling Plumes

The goal of this project was to examine diatom community composition in response to two upwelling events along the eastern boundary of the Pacific Ocean (off the west coast of the United States) with different amounts of dissolved iron. The goal was to test the hypothesis that dissolved iron plays a role in influencing diatom community composition in response to upwelling such that higher iron upwelling results in diatom communities dominated by larger diatoms than low iron upwelling.
