We have developed the vaccine candidate BCGΔBCG1419c, by deletion of BCG1419c in BCG Pasteur ATCC 35734, which improved control of tuberculosis (TB) in preclinical models. Here, we compared the transcriptomes of BCG and BCGΔBCG1419c during planktonic growth. To gain insight into the molecular differences occcuring between planktonic cells of BCG Pasteur and the vaccine candidate BCGDBCG1419c, we compared the transcriptome to wildtype BCG Pasteur to that of the mutant with deletion of BCG1419c, when both strains were grown in Middlebrook 7H9 media with 10% OADC, 0.2% glycerol, 0.05% Tween 80, grown in tissue cultured flasks with vented caps, at 100 rpm, 37ºC up to an OD600nm 0.8.
