VPRS 9623 Register of Licenses to Divert Water

This series registered and summarised Licenses to Cut Races and Divert Water issued by the Victorian Water Supply Department. Licenses to Cut Races and Divert Water were issued pursuant to section 122 of the Irrigation Act 1886 (No.898). Section 122 was superseded by section 281 of the Water Act 1890 (No.1156). Licenses allowed licensees to cut water races across Crown land and to divert specified amounts of water from the streams named in the Licenses. For each license, this series recorded the license number, the name and address of the licensee, the place and purpose of the diversion, particulars of the race, the date of issue, the fee, special conditions and covenants, and the years for which the license was renewed.
