资源简介:

The dataset was compiled utilizing recent peatland mapping products, spatial analysis of drainage intensity, and automated segmentation of forest resource data (Tuominen & Salmivaara 2024) to produce an openly available dataset described in Salmivaara et al. (2026) that classifies drained peatland forests in Finland based on productivity. Five classes were separated: unproductive, low-productive, medium-productive, productive, and productive young stands. The dataset is provided in both Esri File Geodatabase (.gdb) and GeoPackage (.gpkg) formats. It consists of five regionally divided layers containing polygons of peatland forest stands classified as drained. Attribute data include productivity class, drainage intensity, ditch spacing, annual temperature sums for the periods 1981-2010 and 1991-2020, and site fertility class based on the data described in Middleton et al. (2023). The distinction of peatland forest segments into drained and un-drained stands was based on the same division that was used in Middleton et al. (2023). The productivity was assessed through tree stand volume development, using a time series of consecutive Multi-Source National Forest Inventory (MSNFI) from time period 2000–2021. In addition, the data set includes the following stand attributes from MSNFI 2021: site type, fertility class, dominant height, basal area, diameter, age, volume as total and per tree species, total and aboveground biomass as total and per tree species. After publication of first version of the data set, the drainage status has been re-evaluated, and an issue related to the natural streams vs. artificial ditches has been identified. The 1st version of the data set contains small natural water bodies erroneously categorized as artificial and thus, some stands were falsely classified as drained. To account for this the 2nd version of the data set contains only those stands that agree with the recently 2025 dataset on peatland and mineral soil drainage status (SYKE, 2025). The dataset is produced at Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Holisoils, grant agreement No 101000289).
