The genomic evolution of metastatic disease in genetically engineered mouse models of breast cancer

Exome sequencing of matched primary and metastastic lung nodules from genetically engineered mouse models of metastatic breast cancer was performed to identify potential somatically acquired events associated with tumor progression. Four different commonly used mouse models of metastatic breast cancer were analyzed on a homozygous FVB/NJ mouse genetic background. In addition, to assess the impact of genetic background on somatic evolution, one model (MMTV-PyMT) was also analyzed on multiple F1 mixed genetic backgrounds.
