These studies constitute an initial approach of degrowth movement from a social psychological point of a view. In the first study, it was attempted to investigate the evaluations of degrowth arguments, the relation of these evaluations with politicization or implicit influence theories and the degree of agreement with these arguments, and to get a first depiction regarding the social representations of the source. Based on this study it was managed to standardize these arguments depending on how strong and conflictual they were evaluated, as these characteristics are fundamental in social influence research, resulting to the formation of five conditions, with different strength and conflictuality. In the second study it was managed to show that degrowth is actually an active minority and there were found indications that although strength is fundamental for direct and indirect influence, conflictuality is equally important, while the role of social representations should not be misrecognized.
