It contains over 7.6 million tree measurement records collected since 1939, covering more than 20,500 species. This database records individual tree data using standardized techniques, with the goal of measuring, monitoring and analyzing the dynamics and changes of global tropical forests. Maintained by more than 2,500 researchers from Africa, South America and Asia, it provides critical support for research on forest carbon sequestration, biodiversity and climate change.
