The POMINO-GEMS dataset is based on the POMINO-GEMS retrieval algorithm independently developed by the ACM Research Group at Peking University. This algorithm utilizes the AMFv6 software package driven by the parallel LIDORT radiative transfer model, with a focus on improving the calculation of tropospheric NO2 atmospheric mass factor (AMF). The POMINO-GEMS algorithm uses the daily BRDF coefficients from the MODIS MCD43C2.061 dataset and OMLER v3 surface albedo data to calculate surface reflectance. The algorithm employs aerosol data from the nested GEOS-Chem (v9-02) model to explicitly characterize aerosol optical effects. Additionally, the algorithm corrects the simulated AOD using monthly-averaged AOD data from MODIS MYD04_L2. Prior to calculating the tropospheric NO2 AMF, the POMINO-GEMS algorithm performs a re-retrieval of cloud fraction and cloud top pressure using consistent prior parameters. Furthermore, by fusing observational data from GEMS and TROPOMI alongside model data from GEOS-CF, the algorithm also improves the tropospheric NO2 slant column concentration for GEMS. The POMINO-GEMS tropospheric NO2 vertical column concentration is calculated based on the tropospheric NO2 slant column concentration and tropospheric NO2 AMF generated by the POMINO-GEMS algorithm.
