Source code and input data of climate model CM2.1

This is the source code of climate model CM2.1 developed by GFDL, along with the related input data. We utilized this climate model to investigate how tidal mixing affects the meridional heat transport in the ocean. A series of numerical experiments is conducted to test whether tidal mixing would have an impact on the transfer of heat from the tropics to the poles. The meridional overturning circulation in the ocean can transport both mass and heat across latitudes, and tidal mixing affects the intensity of this circulation, thereby influencing the transfer of heat to the poles. The research results indicate that the enhancement of tidal mixing will result in more heat being transported to the polar regions. This study helps us understand how tidal mixing affects the global climate by altering the heat transport in the ocean.
