Microbial diversity analysis of Tso Moriri water sample

Water sample was collected from Tso Moriri lake. The water sample Metagenome of Tso Moriri was extracted and studied for the analysis of microbial diversity. Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri or "Mountain Lake", is a brackish water lake in the Ladakh part of the Changthang Plateau in Jammu and Kashmir in Northern India. It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region. Bacterial community and functional analysis of the water sample was assessed by Ion Torrent PGM sequencing. Majority of the portion is unclassified indicating the possibilities for the presence of novel species in this water sample. Functional analysis of the sequence classified the data as being related to metabolism, environmental information processing, followed by the pathways of genetic information processing.
