In 2023, rhizosphere soil samples were collected during the flowering stage (August 12, growth stage 65 in Biologische Bundesanstalt, Bundessortenamt and Chemical Industry scale) of foxtail millet. In each plot, five foxtail millet plants were uprooted using the five point sampling method, the roots were gently shaken to remove loose soil, and the residual soil was collected from the roots using a sterile brush and mixed into a composite sample. Each soil sample was passed through a 2 mm sieve and separated into two subsamples.
