This dataset contains the raw data, provided as a single CSV file, used for all analyses and figures (main and supplementary) in the manuscript. The repository also includes the custom R code (main and supplementary) necessary to generate these analyses and figures, along with supplementary materials.

Raw data description1) The CSV file, StringPulling_MasterData_2025.csv, compiles all data from the string-pulling open diffusion experiments, covering both experimental and control colonies.2) The excel files, procenko_bridges_et_al2025_non-pulling extractions.xlsx, compiles data on non-string pulling extractions from both experimental and control colonies.
3) The R code, procenko_bridges_et_al2025_string_pulling_diffusion.R, produces all main data analysis and figures.
4) The R code file, procenko_bridges_et_al2025_supplementary.R, produces all supplementary analyses and figures.

StringPulling_MasterData_2025.csv contents:
Each row represents a single string-pulling event with the following columns:
Day: Observation day (1–5: Phase I; 6–10: Phase II).
Time: Time of the event in seconds, recorded per video file using BORIS software.
ID: Identity of the bee involved in the string-pulling event.
Colony: Colony identity of the bee.
Introduction: Indicates whether the colony is primary (1) or secondary (2).
Phase: Experimental phase of the string-pulling event.
Group: Experimental group identifier:
- Group 1: C1 & SC1
- Group 2: C2 & SC2
- Group 3: C3 & SC3
Demonstrator: Indicates if the event occurred under experimental (with seeded demonstrator) or control (no demonstrator) conditions.
Media.file.name: Name of the media file where the event was recorded.
