资源简介:
With the rapid advancement of technology, human interactions in trade, commerce, governance, and daily life have assumed new dimensions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) now plays a transformative role, with systems and tools capable of making decisions, completing tasks, and executing instructions that were traditionally the domain of humans, often with little or no meaningful human oversight. This process, known as Automated Decision-Making (ADM), frequently produces outcomes with significant legal and socioeconomic consequences. This paper argues that the adoption and deployment of AI and technological tools in Nigeria, particularly where they generate ADM effects, must be clearly, rigorously, and practically regulated by relevant authorities across both public and private sectors. The absence of such guardrails has already resulted, and will continue to result, in unfair outcomes that impair legal rights, economic opportunities, and the interests of citizens. Beyond the immediate risks, weak governance of ADM also undermines Nigeria's aspiration to position itself as a leading digital economy.
