This project investigates the microbial community structures of bacterial aerobic granular sludge (BAGS) and algal-bacterial granular sludge (ABGS) systems applied in wastewater treatment. High-throughput 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing was performed to characterize microbial communities associated with anaerobic fermentation for volatile fatty acids (VFAs) production, nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) recovery, and enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR). The sequencing data support the evaluation of carbon source self-sufficiency and resource recovery potential in granular sludge-based wastewater treatment systems.
