Ion separation is crucial for addressing global challenges like water scarcity, energy shortages, and pollution. Membrane technology, a sustainable and energy-efficient solution, has gained prominence due to its scalability and operational simplicity. Inspired by the exceptional ion transport properties of biological ion channels, developing artificial channels and improving membrane materials for enhanced performance are attractive. This thesis investigates the integration of crystalline porous materials into polymer matrices, creating advanced nanofluidic membranes with efficient, and selective ion transport properties. These innovations offer promising solutions for water treatment, resource recovery, and sustainable industrial processes.
