Isolated Buckling Restrained Brace Test

A pair of short (43 in.)Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) are to be used to enhance the performance of a Special Truss Moment Frame. As a result, its behavior was examined in order to precisely analyze and understand behavior of the STMF with BRB, as well as to formulate the basic modeling parameters. These BRBs were custom made in order for them to yield prior to the chord members of the STMF. The advantage of this is that BRBs can be changed easily if they yield under moderate seismic activity.
