SPM in situ data in the estuary of Patos Lagoon - 'Material em Suspensão' Project (1979 - 1986)

The 'Material em Suspensão' project was designed considering the varying dimensions of different regions of Patos Lagoon. Three sampling designs were established and called Phases I-III. This dataset introduces Phase II. The data was obtained from May 1982 to December 1983, totaling 19 cruises. In situ sampling was performed in 30 points, located mainly in 3 transverse sections, and water samples were collected using a modified Ottmann horizontal bottle. When local depth was greater than 3 m, surface, mid water column, and bottom were sampled, and only at surface and bottom otherwise. SPM was measured gravimetrically on pre-weighted filter. The filtration of those samples was performed on acetate cellulose filter (0.45 μm pore size). Filters were then weighted in a precision scale.
