The Directorate Survey 2016

In 2016, an electronic questionnaire was sent out to case officers and managers with at least one year's service in the ministry and directorate and other central administration on features of working methods, personnel and decision processes. The study is a continuation of similar surveys in 1976, 1986, 1996 and 2006. Principal investigators are Professor Per Lægreid, University of Bergen and Rokkan Centre, professors Tom Christensen and Morten Egeberg, University of Oslo, and Professor Jarle Trondal, University of Agder. All the researchers have been central as project staff and principal investigatorss in the previous central administration surveys. About the Directorate Survey Case managers and managers with at least one year's service time in directorates and other central administration outside the ministries were sent a questionnaire dealing with features of working methods, personnel and decision-making processes. The survey was conducted as a web-based survey. Important features of the respondents were that they: - is employed by a directorate or other body in the central administration outside the ministries - has at least one year of service - is at case officer or chief level The form was sent to every third employee who was part of the population. Based on submitted lists and available sources, an attempt was made to find as accurate a survey population as possible. However, if people did not meet the above requirements, they were asked to return the e-mail with a brief reference to why they should not attend so that they could be deleted from the population and any reminders.
