The 1-Kilometer Global Population Distribution Product provides estimates of total population (measured as the number of people per square kilometer) for the years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020. The estimates are based on data aligned with national censuses and population registers, and are adjusted in accordance with United Nations national population statistics. The spatial resolution of the raw dataset is 30 arcseconds, which is approximately 1 kilometer at the equator. To enable faster global processing, the 30-arcsecond resolution data is aggregated to resolutions of 2.5 arcminutes, 15 arcminutes, 30 arcminutes, and 1 degree.
