Users can generate customized tables and charts of statistics regarding hospitals, emergency departments and patient characteristics using this interactive tool from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project. Background HCUPnet is an interactive tool that allows users to easily gather statistics of interest from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (H-CUP). HCUP is sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. It is a collection of databases that provide information on patient health care data on a national and state level. Topics include: cost of care, access to care, and treatment outcomes. HCUPnet uses data from the HCUP databases (Nationwide Inpatient Sample; K ids Inpatient Database; State Inpatient Databases; State Emergency Department Databases). User FunctionalityUsers generate custom tables and graphs by following the HCUPnet query system. The system allows users to select the focus of their query, the specific type of query, outcomes and measures, patient and hospital characteristics, and how the results are presented. Data Notes The specific year and database used to generate the statistics is clearly labeled in the results of a query.
