Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi diversity from seleniferous and non-seleniferous regions

In the present study, a total of 17 AMF species from seleniferous region and 18 AMF species from non-seleniferous region were identified. Dominant AMF species identified were Glomus irregulare, Glomus intra-radices, Glomus mosseae, Acaulospora sp. AMF inoculated plants had healthy growth with high-er biomass as compared to non-AMF plants. The AMF species recovered from natural seleniferous region of Punjab can be used as bioinoculants or biofertilizers after mass production for plant growth promotion of plants growing in highly selenium impacted soils where plants suffer due to selenium toxicity and serve as bioremediation tools.
